Berlin joins Antietam Broadband team

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Antietam Broadband recently announced that Randy Berlin has joined the company as director of business services and development, acting as chief liaison to the area business community. Reporting directly to Antietam Broadband President Brian Lynch, Berlin will be based in Hagerstown.

Brown earns certified divorce financial analyst certificate


HAGERSTOWN Md., — Jerred A. Brown, owner at Antietam Wealth Management, Financial Advisor, Raymond James, has attained a certified divorce financial analyst certificate.

The certification is awarded by The Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts. 

Those with a CDFA certificate are able to evaluate the tax implications of dividing property and the financial impact of various settlement options for dividing marital property (including pensions) and child and spousal support payments.

Bowers achieves Raymond James executive council


HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Joan F. Bowers, a financial adviser at the Hagerstown office of Antietam Wealth Management, has been honored with RJFS Financial Advisor Executive Council II.

Membership is based on prior fiscal year production. Re-qualification is required annually. The ranking may not be representative of any one client’s experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of adviser’s future performance. No fee is paid in exchange for this award/rating. The RJFS Executive Council II includes financial advisers that were ranked 566 through 1,015 based on personal production. Bowers was able to accomplish bringing in $1.01 million so far during 2019.

Webb joins Schwab branch in Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Jonathan Webb has joined the Charles Schwab branch in Hagerstown as an independent branch associate financial consultant. In his new role, Webb will provide investment guidance to help clients understand where their money is invested, how their investments are performing and what it’s costing.

Berkeley Medical Center names award winners

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Joyce Reese and Pat Housden, environmental services, were recently named WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center’s Quality Service Award winners for August 2019.


Each month, the hospital’s service award committee selects a Quality Service Award recipient. Reese and Housden were nominated by the hospital’s second floor nursing staff.

“Joyce and Pat bring great joy and teamwork to our unit. Without hesitation, they are always willing to jump on any task that is asked of them. At a time where census has been incredibly high, patient turnover has to be prompt. We never have to worry about finding a housekeeper. Many times they are ahead of us, even on the STAT cleans. They never hesitate or make excuses. Instead they work together to get the job done. The patients compliment how comfortable they make them feel and how they brighten their day,” the co-worker wrote.

WVU Medicine East welcomes plastic surgeon


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center and University Healthcare Physicians recently announced the addition of Dr. Mohamed K. Barry to WVU Medicine Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Barry, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.

As a WVU Medicine physician, Barry will serve as an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine and is a member of the medical staff at both Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center.

He is now accepting new patients at WVU Medicine Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery, 2000 Foundation Way, Suite 3650, in Martinsburg.

WVU Cancer Institute welcomes oncologist


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center and University Health Associates recently welcomed Dr. Pooja Sahni, hematologist/oncologist, to the WVU Cancer Institute in Martinsburg, W.Va.

An assistant professor at the WVU School of Medicine, Sahni is a member of the medical staffs at Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center.

Jefferson Medical Center announces award winner


RANSON, W.Va. — Josh Mongold of the laboratory staff was recently named WVU Medicine Jefferson Medical Center’s Quality Service Award winner for the third quarter 2019.

Mongold was nominated by a co-worker for going above and beyond to raise awareness and solicit donations for the hospital’s recent blood drive.

F&M Trust announces new hires, promotions

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa, — F&M Trust recently announced the following recent hires and promotions:

Tony Klatko has been named portfolio manager. In his new position, Klatko is responsible for conducting investment research, administering investment policies, plans and securities trading activities and providing asset research and portfolio management services to customers.

Courtney Davis has been promoted to community office manager of F&M Trust’s Brookview and Chamberspointe community offices. In her new position, Davis is responsible for representing F&M Trust within the local community and leading team members at the Brookview and Chamberspointe community offices.

Beth Reeser has been named retirement plan services relationship manager. In her new role, Reeser is responsible for managing and growing new business clientele for retirement plan services, creating sales strategies to grow business clients and servicing the direct the administration of F&M Trust’s business clients’ retirement plans. She is based in F&M Trust’s Memorial Square office in Chambersburg.

Evelyn Farnsworth has been promoted to assistant community office manager for F&M Trust’s Waynesboro, Pa., office. In her new position, Farnsworth is responsible for servicing the financial needs of F&M Trust customers and leading the team at the Waynesboro Community Office.

Star Community names new executive director

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Luann Brechbill of Chambersburg, Pa., recently accepted the position of executive director at Star Community Inc.

Penn State Mont Alto names new advisory board members

MONT ALTO, Pa. — Four new members have joined the Penn State Mont Alto Advisory Board for the 2019-20 academic year.

Comprised of alumni, friends and corporate leaders, the board is a link between the campus and surrounding communities. Board members not only serve as ambassadors for the campus and the university but also as a conduit for community feedback regarding campus programs and activities.

Abel Castro owns State Farm Insurance Agent in Chambersburg, Pa., where he was recently named among the top 100 agents in the nation as a new agent.  Castro studied computer electronics and engineering at the ITT Technical Institute in Mechanicsburg.

Douglas C. Harmon is the certified tourism ambassador director for Franklin County Visitors Bureau, where he has served since September 2017. He also owns and operates Harmon’s Entertainment MC as well as the Tour and Media Co., providing businesses and individuals with social media management and tour guides. Harmon earned his MBA from Mount St. Mary’s University and holds a bachelor of science in marketing from Penn State.

James Junkin is the owner of Junk-Inn Farms LLC, in Willow Hill, Pa., where he does livestock production including turkeys, sheep and pigs as well as crop management. He is also the owner of Gipe’s Service in Fannettsburg, Pa., which provides automotive maintenance and repair service as well as certified inspections. Junkin studied advanced management development at Penn State Mont Alto and accounting at Wilson College.

Timothy L. Mussmon is the vice president/regional lending manager at AgChoice Farm Credit in Chambersburg, where he previously served as executive loan officer. Mussmon earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural business management from Penn State.

Shepherd professor named academy president


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Janine Sam, Shepherd University assistant professor of business administration, recently became president of the Academy of Financial Services, a national organization that encourages research in personal financial planning and services, the development of the university curricula in the financial services field, and interaction between financial services professionals and academics.

Nace joins Chambersburg chamber of commerce


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce recently named Jordan Nace as its new membership director,

He will serve nearly 800 members of the business community.

At the chamber, Jordan will oversee membership recruitment and retention as well as lead the Chamber Ambassador program to ensure member needs are met. He will also coordinate various chamber events including mixers, ribbon-cuttings/grand openings, buy local initiatives, the annual golf tournament, new member orientations and other events.
