WVU Medicine hires physical medicine, rehab specialist

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center recently announced the opening of the Interventional Spine Care Center in Martinsburg, W.Va., and the addition of Dr. Shoji Ishigami to the medical center staff.

The Interventional Spine Care-Procedure Based Management program, a part of WVU Medicine Brain and Spine, focuses on the safe and accurate performance of spine injection procedures to ease acute pain and ensure patient comfort.

Some of the conditions treated include degenerated, bulging or herniated discs; stenosis; whiplash; osteoporosis; spinal and pelvic fractures; and facet joint or hip joint arthritis.

Scott named FSU business alumnus of the year

FROSTBURG, Md.Wayne Scott, a graduate of the class of 1989, was recognized as Frostburg’s 2018 College of Business Alumnus of the Year in May, acknowledging his significant contributions to the College and its students. Today, Scott is senior director of internal audit for SourceAmerica’s Washington, D.C., field office.

A member of the College of Business Advisory Board since September 2017 and vice chair since fall 2018, Scott leveraged 15-plus years of experience as vice president of internal audit for Universal Service Administrative Co. to help the college shape and implement the new Business Analytics concentration for the MBA program.

Karstetter earns top health care management credential

CUMBERLAND, Md. Jamie Karstetter, vice president and chief nursing officer at Western Maryland Health System, recently became a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders.

Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. To obtain fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.

Bushong joins Bowen Realty

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Berkshire Hathaway Bowen Realty recently announced that Jamie Bushong has joined the company as a Realtor.

Now licensed in Maryland, Bushong also holds an inactive real estate license from North Carolina.

Home Builders Association has new director

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Home Builders Association of Washington County recently announced that Kris Detrow as the organization’s new executive director.

Detrow is working to organize and promote the 2019 Home Show at Hagerstown Community College in March and also hopes to attract new members to the Home Builders Association of Washington County.

David L. Maaskant, a CPA, provides business valuation and tax services to clients. He performs valuations for a variety of purposes, including buying and selling a business, federal estate taxation and planning, personal goodwill analysis, forensic accounting, and commercial loan underwriting for Small Business Association.

 

Kevin B. Stouffer, a certified public accountant, has focused his professional career on the local governmental industry. He is an instructor at SEK’s in-house training programs on governmental accounting, which include topics such as uniform grant guidance, fraud avoidance and internal controls.

a CPA, works in the Hagerstown office where he serves business clients in a variety of sizes and industries, working closely with nonprofit, governmental and for-profit entities. His expertise includes performing single audits and financial statement audits for nonprofits.

Daryl L. Staley, a CPA, is part of SEK’s accounting, consulting and tax services department. He works with closely held businesses and individuals focusing on tax planning and compliance, financial statement preparation and general business consulting. Staley also works in a variety of industries, including construction, retail, manufacturing, professional services and restaurants.

Evan M. Wabrick, a CPA, works in the tax department and assists the accounting services department on various bookkeeping jobs. He works with clients in a variety of industries, including medical practices, construction, manufacturing, retail and distribution, real estate, financial services and individuals.

Holloway to lead plan review, permitting in Washington Co.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Washington County Board of Commissioners recently announced the appointment of Ashley R. Holloway as director of the division of plan review and permitting.

Wood to manage Heidler Roofing division in Md.

YORK, Pa. — Heidler Roofing Services Inc. has named Ashley Wood as general manager of its Hagerstown, Md., Division.

Wood joined Heidler in 2015 as project manager, then was promoted to assistant manager in 2017. She is working to continue developing relationships with local organizations, schools and trade organizations to encourage employment in the trades.

Shenandoah University hires new business school dean

WINCHESTER, Va. Astrid Sheil will join Shenandoah  University as the new dean of the Harry F. Byrd Jr. School of Business on July 1.

Sheil will be the sixth dean of the business school and the first woman to serve in the role. She is currently  the dean’s fellow for program outreach and promotion and a tenured professor of communication and business at California State University San Bernardino.

Sullivan among top real estate agents in America

WVU Medicine names quality service award recipients

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center has named monthly quality service award winners for August, September and October.

The hospital’s service award committee selects a recipient for each month.

Criteria for the award include demonstrating a consistently high level of productivity and quality of work.
