HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Volunteers from Abeles Flurie Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors recently helped Habitat for Humanity of Washington County at the building sites of two new homes. The affordable homes are being built for qualified Washington County residents. Abeles Flurie  has been supporting the Habitat mission by contributing volunteers to Habitat construction sites for seven years. Maryland Chamber lobbyist: ‘We’re going to have our work cut out for us in 2019’

New hotel will add 105 rooms in Washington County, Md.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Bowman Group’s newest hotel will provide 105 suite-style rooms in Washington County, Md., and tourism officials say the facility is a welcome addition. Orrstown, Bank of Mercersburg to merge

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Orrstown Financial Services Inc. has signed a $32.4 million merger agreement with Mercersburg Financial Corp., the parent company of First Community Bank of Mercersburg. Under terms of the agreement, Mercersburg shareholders may elect to receive either 1.5291 Orrstown shares or $40 in cash for each Mercersburg share subject to terms, according to a Mercersburg bank news release. Upon completion of the transaction, the combined bank is expected to have about $2 billion in assets, $1.3 billion in loans and $1.6 billion in deposits, the release said. Nearly 60 businesses were honored as Healthiest Maryland Businesses Wellness at Work Awardees in June. Western Md. Hospital Center department earns four stars

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Western Maryland Hospital Center’s Comprehensive Care Department achieved a four-star rating from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System is an important bench mark, helping consumers, their families and caregivers compare long-term care facilities, the center said in a news release. CMS compares each nursing home nationally according to quality measures, staffing levels and annual survey outcomes. The Western Maryland center has a long history of quality outcomes.
