FLINTSTONE, Md. — Rocky Gap Casino Resort team members participated in several volunteer charitable efforts during November to benefit Allegany County organizations.
The effort culminated before Thanksgiving.
Rocky Gap team members — who were given free turkeys as a holiday gift by the resort — had the opportunity to donate the meals to charity.
More than 200 turkeys were presented to Human Resources Development Commission’s Laura’s Anchor, Western Maryland Health Systems, Associated Charities and YMCA Housing.
Rocky Gap also sponsored a November food drive.
Resort guests donated more than 40 boxes of nonperishable food items as part of the 29th annual Bags of Plenty food drive for the Western Maryland Food Bank.
Rocky Gap team members organized the donations before Thanksgiving.
Michelle Walker, operations and development manager for Allegany County United Way, and Deanna Clark, executive director of Associated Charities, said in a joint statement: “All of us appreciate everything Rocky Gap does for the community. We look forward to working together in the future.”
Rocky Gap General Manager Skylar Dice said he was proud of the charitable efforts by the casino’s guests and team members.
“Rocky Gap takes its role seriously as a leading business in Allegany County,” Dice said. “This belief is felt by everyone, including management, team members and guests. We at Rocky Gap are proud that our efforts helped those in need have a Happy Thanksgiving.”
