Burkholder joins Coldwell Banker Premier

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Autumn Burkholder has joined Coldwell Banker Premier as a sales associate.

Burkholder has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing and distribution. She relocated to the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia 11 years ago.

Burkholder is heavily involved in supporting the Let There Be Rock School, which raises funds to benefit the community, and promotes positive youth behavior and relationships through music.

Two named among best lawyers in America

Bear promoted at Plamondon Hospitality

FREDERICK, Md. — Plamondon Hospitality Partners has announced the promotion of Sharon Bear to director of sales and revenue management.

Bear joined Plamondon in 2006 as general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Frederick. Throughout her time with the company, she has served in many different roles and has supported a variety of job functions.

In 2010 she was promoted to dual general manager of the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Hagerstown and the Courtyard by Marriott Hagerstown. She later returned to Frederick as an area general manager, overseeing the company’s four Frederick hotels. In April 2016 she was promoted to regional manager, overseeing all of the company’s Maryland hotels.

In her new position, Bear will take on a more active role in overseeing the sales teams at the company’s four Frederick hotels; two Hagerstown hotels; two Altoona, Pa., hotels; one Grovetown, Ga., hotel; and the hotel opening later this year in Fulton, Md. She will also be responsible for directing revenue management and sales strategies for the company’s entire hotel portfolio, which spans three states and several brands.

Plamondon Hospitality Partners is a hotel management and development company. Its portfolio includes several Marriott and Hilton properties across three states.

Anderson named bronze medalist

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Melanie Anderson of Anderson Photographs in Hagerstown, Md., was named a bronze medalist during the Professional Photographers of America’s 2018 International Photographic Competition.

Her work will be displayed at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, from Jan. 20 to 22. This International Photographic Exhibit is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers.

A panel of 32 jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,073 entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, 2,622 images were selected for the General Collection and 513 (roughly 10 percent) were selected for the Loan Collection — the best of the best.

The Loan Collection images will all be published in the “Loan Collection” book and over 365 selected General Collection images will be published in the “Showcase” book by Marathon Press.

Anderson was named a bronze medalist by earning a merit — a mark of quality and honor — for each of the four images in her entry case to the International Photographic Competition.

Nolan receives adjunct faculty award at Allegany

CUMBERLAND, Md. — Susan J. Nolan, adjunct professor of English and speech communication, has received Allegany College of Maryland’s 2018 Adjunct Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award.

Nolan began teaching off-site English and speech communication courses for ACM in 1989. She now teaches at ACM’s Cumberland campus, where she also serves as a test reader and writing coach.

Nolan taught in Allegany County Public Schools from 1976 to 2014. A certified reading specialist, she holds a master’s degree in education-reading and a bachelor’s degree in history and English secondary education from Frostburg State University.

The Adjunct Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award is given to a part- or full-time adjunct faculty member who demonstrates teaching and learning excellence in the classroom, fosters an environment conducive to student learning, offers service the department or institution and demonstrates strong interpersonal relationship skills.

Two join BWise Manufacturing staff

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Dean Frey and Gena Reath have joined BWise Manufacturing in Chambersburg.

Frey is a parts flow specialist with more than 30 years of inventory management experience. Before joining BWise, he was purchasing agent and inventory manager for a multi-location retail pool and spa store. He managed the parts department, receiving, shipping and purchasing. Prior to that, he was the customer service manager for Lowes, responsible for customer relations, inventory management and internet sales.

Frey attended Michigan State University, where he studied business management. He and his wife, Ruth Ann, reside in Chambersburg. They enjoy traveling and are actively involved in music and missions outreach at their church.

Reath is part of the BWise purchasing department, working as a buyer. She has more than 25 years of procurement and purchasing experience.

Before joining BWise, Reath held procurement positions for worldwide stone manufacturers for the past 10 years. Prior to that, she was an entrepreneur in the retail/restaurant industry for 15 years. Her responsibilities at BWise will include maintaining contact with vendors to ensure service, quality and competitive pricing.

Reath is a nature lover who delights in gardening and cooking. She has enjoyed living in the Pittsburgh area, North Carolina and Virginia. Her roots brought her back to Pennsylvania and her family’s orchard.

BWise Manufacturing is a manufacturer of utility, tilt, equipment and dump trailers. BWise manufactures trailers under two brands, Bri-Mar Trailers and BWise Trailers.

The company has a 400,000-square-foot facility and employ 120 people.

Joy joins Strata Realty

A resident of Hagerstown, Joy has more than 33 years of experience in the real estate market, helping clients with buying and selling homes.

She is licensed to sell real estate in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. She also has an office in Martinsburg, W.Va., with Weichert Realtors, Blue Ribbon Realty.

Joy is a member of the National Association of Realtors and Pen-Mar Realtors Association.

Pediatrician joins WVU Medicine Family Medicine

RANSON, W.Va. — WVU Medicine University Healthcare Physicians recently announced that Dr. Nirupama Seemaladinne, has joined the staff at WVU Medicine Family Medicine — Ranson.

Seemaladinne, a pediatrician, is a graduate of Kurnool Medical College in Kurnool, India. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, W.Va., and her master’s degree in public health at West Virginia University in Morgantown.

Seemaladinne, a member of the medical staff at Jefferson Medical Center, is accepting new patients.

Small promoted to senior wealth advisor

OAKLAND, Md. — First United Bank and Trust has promoted Shane M. Small to senior wealth advisor serving the Washington County, Md., and Franklin County, Pa. markets.

In addition, he maintains several relationships within West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Small, who has an office in Hagerstown, Md., has more than 17 years of local trust, investment and insurance experience. He began his financial services career as an insurance sales manager after graduating from Shippensburg University. From there, he progressed through various trust and investment roles and most recently served as vice president of trust and investments.

He is NASD Licensed in Series 7 and 66 as well as property and casualty and life and health Insurance. Small continues to counsel his clients with investment management, estate and tax concerns, and financial planning through a consultative relationship in which his customers’ experience is tailored to their needs and not product-driven.

Small is a member and tournament organizer for the PB Knickers Group, a nonprofit organization raising funds for local military charities. He is also a past member of the Mercersburg (Pa.) Rotary Club.

Kline joins Smith Elliott Kearns

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Kevin J. Kline, a CPA, has joined the Camp Hill office of Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. LLC as a member of the firm.

This addition strengthens SEK&Co’s audit practice, one of the firm’s core practice areas, and adds further depth to the firm’s offering, the company reported in a news release. Kline will serve clients from all of the south-central Pennsylvania offices of SEK&Co.

Kline is a 2002 graduate of Penn State University and has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting, including working with regional, national and Big 4 firms. He has significant experience working with manufacturing, distribution, construction, life sciences, technology and private equity/investment companies.

He most recently led the central Pennsylvania commercial audit practice at a national firm.

Kline was recognized as one of Central Pennsylvania’s “Forty Under 40” by the Central Penn Business Journal in 2015. He supports the local community as a board member and audit committee member of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC, Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area, and Modern Transit Partnership. Additionally, Kline is a member of the Fund Distribution Panel and the Bridges Society for the United Way of the Capital Region as well as a classroom instructor for Junior Achievement.

Jepson joins orthopaedics practice

BETHESDA, Md. — Dr. Matthew Jepson recently joined The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics as a primary care sports medicine physician.

Jepson is board-certified in family medicine with a certificate of added-qualification in sports medicine. He works with a variety of patients, but his areas of interest include acute and chronic sports injury and prevention, concussion evaluation and management, athletic event coverage and ultrasound-guided procedures.

He completed a residency with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and a fellowship with the University of South Carolina. While in South Carolina, he completed a training with the school’s athletics department, working alongside NCAA Division I sports teams daily.

Jepson has brought his passion for sports medicine to the area, covering four area schools as the fall sports season picks up. He maintains open hours in his schedule to immediately see patients, and he staffs Saturday morning hours to see patients who may have been injured during competitions on Friday nights.

In addition, his family medicine background allows him to see a variety of patients and recommend the best course of action for a range of injuries. He has worked with patients of all ages and athletic abilities.

CAO has multiple locations, and Dr. Jepson works from offices in Hagerstown, Frederick and Urbana, Md.

CNB staffer joins SHRM board

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Hanna Kenney has joined the Society for Human Resource Management Eastern Panhandle Chapter Board. 

SHRM is a professional human resources membership association. It promotes the role of HR as a profession and provides education, certification and networking to its members. The local chapter offers seminars to professionals in the area.

Kenney has worked at CNB Bank for 10 years in various positions. She currently serves as the bank’s human resource generalist.

Kenney holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va., and is a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), which makes her a recognized leader and expert in human resources.

A lifelong resident of Berkeley County, W.Va., she lives in Martinsburg with her husband, Devin, and her dog, Roxie.

Accounting firm announces staff changes

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell, a certified public accounting and business consulting firm, has announced several staff changes.

Lori Mertz has been promoted to supervisor. Mertz is a resident of Maugansville, Md.
