CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — The Bank of Charles Town recently awarded more than $843,994 in college scholarships to area high school students.

Recipients were individually recognized at The BCT Awards Ceremony held recently at The Inn at Charles Town.

A new scholarship was awarded in memory of BCT’s former president. The first annual Robert “Bob” F. Baronner Jr. Scholarship was awarded to Desiree N. Hart of Martinsburg High School, in the amount of $2,500 annually for four years. Hart plans to attend the University of Charleston.

Eight students were selected to receive Robert W. McCormick Full Ride Scholarships: They area Leah K. Chen, Jefferson High School/West Virginia University; Mahayana Garcia, Jefferson High School/Shepherd University; Alexander S. Hine, Jefferson High School/WVU; Sarah K. Marrs, Jefferson High School/WVU; Samantha J. Milbourne, Jefferson High School/WVU; Dutch M. Miller, Washington High School/WVU; Sabrina E. Szemborski, Washington High School/WVU; Alexander R. Taughinbaugh, Jefferson High School/Shepherd University

Additional scholarships were awarded as follows:

• BCT Business Administration Scholarship $500 (annually for four years): Davian J. Hester, Washington High School/Shepherd University.

• Blue Ridge CTC Scholarship $500 each (one-time amount): Zebulun Ludlow – Home School/Blue Ridge Community and Technical College; Winnie Lum, Martinsburg High School/Blue Ridge CTC; Destiny R. Shirey, Hedgesville High School/Blue Ridge CTC

• Jeffrey L. Pierce Memorial Scholarship $1,000 (one-time amount): Morgan L. Bowles, Washington High School/Shepherd University.

• Leo & Alma V. Rodgers Scholarship $750 each (annually for four years): Clara F. Lo, Jefferson High School/Shepherd University; Kelly A. Starliper, Washington High School/WVU.

• Tom Mentzer Scholarship $200 each (one-time amount): Olivia F. Black, Jefferson High School; Kaylee M. Crockett, Washington High School/WVU; Holly M. Kidwiler, Washington High School/Shepherd University; Chance M. Manes, Jefferson High School; Max H. Ober, Jefferson High School/Pomona College; Grace J. Valentine, Jefferson High School

• S. Katherine Boxwell & Edwin P. Churchill Scholarship: Lucas E. Costello, Washington High School/$2,000 annually for four years/WVU; Allison L. Cowgill, Hampshire High School/$2,000 annually for four years/Potomac State College; Katie A. Digon, Frankfort High School/$2,500 annually for four years/WVU; Morgan S. Hart, Keyser High School/$5,000 annually for four years/Potomac State College; Haven J. Irwin, Paw Paw High School/$4,000 annually for four years/Allegany College of Maryland; Anna Marie Miller, Musselman High School/$6,000 annually for four years/WVU; Brooke R.
