Pa. firm gets contract for new Md. hotel

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Brechbill & Helman Construction Co. Inc. of Chambersburg, Pa., has been awarded a contract with Bowman Group for the new Home2 Suites in Hagerstown, Md.

The 65,923-square-foot building at 1661 Pullman Lane is planned for a 2.9-acre plot behind the Bob Evans restaurant, adjacent to the Homewood Suites by Hilton, according to a building permit application.

It will feature four stories and 105 apartment-style guest rooms, including 37 studios with one king bed and 47 more with two queen beds.

Newcomer Associates from Chambersburg, Pa., will be the architect for the new project. Fox & Associates from Hagerstown will be the engineer.

Construction is scheduled to start this summer. Rob Ferree, president of Bowman Development, said the plan is to open the hotel in early May 2019.
