FREDERICK, Md. — Morgan-Keller announced that it will soon begin construction of the new Meritus Medical Center outpatient-services building in Hagerstown, Md.

The project involves construction of a single-story, 52,000-square-foot medical office building for outpatient services, including primary care, lab, imaging, rehabilitation and urgent care.

The project will also include full build-out of the interior as well as associated site work, Morgan-Keller reported.

The developer is Ghattas Enterprises, and the architect is CallisonRTKL Inc. Construction was to start in August, and the project is scheduled for completion in September 2018.

The Washington County Planning Commission approved a site plan for the $15 million project in August. The facility will be built along Crayton Boulevard off Maugans Avenue near Maugansville, Md.

An urgent-care facility Meritus operates in the Sylvania Centre along Pennsylvania Avenue will move into the new facility.

Lisa Kelly, a plan review and permitting official for the county, told planning commissioners the center will employ about 85 people. The site plan calls for 261 parking spaces.
