Bank of Charles Town

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Bank of Charles Town presented a check to United Way of the Eastern Panhandle on Feb. 28 to support the United Way Community Campaign.

The annual fundraising campaign provides funding to more than 30 nonprofit agencies in Berkley, Jefferson and Morgan counties.

Bank of Charles Town and its employees have pledged to donate $53,795.96 to United Way.

Manning Media

FREDERICK, Md. — Manning Media is expanding its broadcasting footprint to include two signals broadcasting on 93.5 in Frederick and on 100.5 in Hagerstown.

The heritage broadcast company, Manning Media, Inc. (formerly Manning Broadcasting) owns and operates four stations broadcasting throughout the four-state region: Classic Hits Station 106.9 The Eagle, Hot Adult Contemporary Station Key 103 in Frederick, Adult Contemporary Station 102.1 MORE FM in Hagerstown, and News, Talk, Sports Station 98.9 FM/1490 AM WARK. Manning Media’s radio cluster has the most listeners of any radio group in Washington and Frederick counties, according to ratings company Nielsen.

MAX Country will offer country music from the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s.

WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center received recognition as an adopter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s Patient Financial Communications Best Practices.

As a best-practices adopter, Berkeley Medical Center demonstrated that it follows nearly 100 best practices covering all aspects of financial interactions that take place in a variety of care settings.

“In a time when patients are paying more out of pocket for their health care, the financial conversations we have with patients have never been more important,” said Kathleen Quinones, vice president of finance.

“We have taken steps to ensure that patients are treated with compassion and respect in financial matters, and this recognition confirms that.”

Berkeley Medical Center joins a select group of hospitals, health systems and physician practices that have received this first-of-its-kind, national recognition. A blue-ribbon task force developed the best practices to help improve communication between health-care providers and consumers about financial matters.
